Infant / Child (0-6 years old)

Congratulations! We look forward to celebrating and walking with you as you prepare for the Sacrament of Baptism in this parish community. To ensure that children receiving Baptism have witnesses to the faith, we ask that at least one parent be Catholic and be an active parishioner: registered, attending Mass regularly, and engaged in parish life by tithing, volunteering, or participating in a parish ministry.

Are you a new parishioner?

Welcome! We’re happy to have your family be a part of our parish community. If you have not already registered, please register here: Parish Registration Form Multiple responses | St. Mary Catholic Parish- Littleton, CO. You can register your tithing here On-line Giving – St. Mary Catholic Parish. And here are more ways to get involved at the parish: Volunteer Opportunities – St. Mary Catholic Parish.

Do you belong to another parish?

Parents who do not belong to St. Mary, must provide documentation from their parish indicating permission from their pastor for the Baptism to be celebrated here. You can email this to evangelization@stmarylittleton.org and mail it to us at 6853 S. Prince St. Littleton, CO 80120.

Do you not have a home parish?

If you are looking for a parish near to where you live, you can find one via this website: https://archden.org/boundaries/.  If you live within our parish boundaries, we are happy to welcome you. If you live outside of our parish boundaries, and are not a member of our parish, please reach out to 720-283-4721 to discuss your reasons for choosing St. Mary for Baptism.

Parents

  1. Choose godparent(s) for your child.
  • Your child’s godparent(s) are responsible for helping you raise them in the faith and ultimately to help your child attain heaven. The godparent(s) do this by being a spiritual mentor and an example of Catholic virtue in both word and deed.
  1. Obtain, from the godparent(s), the completed Godparent Eligibility Form.
  • A completed eligibility form is signed and sealed by the parish that the godparent is registered at.
  • A Christian witness does not need to complete the eligibility form.
  1. Attend a Baptism preparation class.
  • Baptism classes are offered at St. Mary on the third Tuesday of each month from 6:30 to 8:30 pm in the Pastoral Office. To register for an upcoming class please fill out the Baptism Preparation Class Registration Form.

  • If you have attended a class in the past 5 years, you will not need to attend another. Please provide the date and location of your last class when completing the information form.
  1. Complete the Baptismal Information Form.
  • If you do not have a birth certificate yet, please make sure that all your information is entered correctly.
  1. Schedule your child’s Baptism by emailing evangelization@stmarylittleton.org or calling 720-283-4721. Baptisms occur on Saturdays at 10:30am or Sundays at 1pm.
  • If your forms are not submitted or the Baptism class is not attended at least a week prior to the Baptism, we will have to reschedule.
  • If you would like a specific priest/deacon to celebrate the Baptism, please coordinate with them first and then confirm scheduling with evangelization@stmarylittleton.org. You MUST confirm with the parish, or you will not be placed on the calendar.
  • If you have a priest/deacon that you would like to celebrate the Baptism from outside the Archdiocese of Denver, please have him submit a letting of good standing from his bishop.
  1. Please make sure to arrive on time for your Baptism. The deacon or priest will meet you there.
  • St. Mary will provide a white garment (bib), a Baptism candle, a prayer quilt (or Holy water container if the child is older than 2), and a Baptismal certificate for the Baptism.

Can I have 2 godparents of the same gender?

  • No, godparents must be opposite genders (male and female).

What if my godparent can’t be present at the Baptism?

  • If a godparent cannot be present at the baptism, they may be represented by proxy. The proxy must meet all the same requirements as the godparent(s) and submit an eligibility form.

Can I have a non-Catholic godparent?

  • Yes. To see the requirements for raising someone in the faith, click here.

Do I have to be married in the Church in order to have my child baptized?

What is a typical donation to the parish for a Baptism?

  • People generally give a small amount both to the church and the celebrant. The general range for both is $25-$100, and people are invited to give according to their means. As always, this is a gift that you are free to give.
