SUMMARY:Prophetic Church: Reaching Others for Christ
DESCRIPTION:Scott Elmer\, the Executive Director of Evangelization and Family Life Ministries of the Archdiocese of Denver\, will be running his doctoral project at St. Mary and he is in need of volunteer participants who are fully initiated Catholics looking to grow in their desire and ability to reach others with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. \nThe project is titled “Prophetic Church\,” because in baptism\, all of the faithful are anointed as priests\, prophets and kings in Jesus Christ. The prophetic anointing specifically empowers us to proclaim the Kingdom of Jesus and be His witnesses in the world. \nThe project will meet once a week for six weeks on Wednesday evenings from September 16 to October 21. The meetings will take place in Ave Maria Hall from 6:30–8:30 pm. DESCRIPTION:We invite all high school teens to join us for a kickoff social on Saturday\, Sep. 26 following the 4:30 pm Mass. We will meet at 5:30 pm at St. Mary Park or the Youth Room (depending on weather). \nWe will present the calendar we are preparing for high school events this year. We are trying to accommodate as many families as possible which is why we will be having events on various days throughout the year. \nHere is an outline of our plan: \n\nAdoratio with JPII: Holy Hour with Eucharistic Adoration dedicated to the youth of the parish every first Thursday of the month (beginning Oct. 1st at 7:00 pm)!\n2–3 Small group meetings per month\nOne Large group gathering each month\nMonthly hikes where the youth can join the Wojtyla Hikers ministry\n3-4 “culture building” events throughout the year (talent show\, poetry reading\, dancing \, etc.)\n\nDuring the 2–3 weeks of each month where small groups will meet\, those can be flexibly scheduled and meet at a family’s home. \nRegistrations are open! DESCRIPTION:The final meeting of our summer speaker series “Getting Grilled” will be on August 26th at 6:30 pm. \nScott Elmer\, Executive Director of Evangelization and Family Life Ministries at the Archdiocese of Denver will be speaking to us about St. John Paul II’s vision for evangelization. \nFollowing his example and heeding the call of this great “missionary” Pope in documents such as Redemptoris Missio and Christifideles Laici\, Catholics everywhere can learn to feel confident in proclaiming the truth of the Gospel to the ends of the earth! It is our baptismal call to spread the peace of Christ in charity. \nThe Knights of Columbus provide Brats\, Hot Dogs\, Chips and Drinks (food is free but donations are appreciated). We meet on the front lawn of the parish rectory and office building. Plan on bringing your own blankets & lawn chairs and respecting social distancing guidelines during the event. \nAll are welcome!
