Important Campus Maintenance Update

Hello fellow St. Mary Parishioners! We are about to embark upon a significant roof reconstruction project on the north school which is the building located just west of the Church building. It includes the elementary school (2nd – 5th grades), main school office, the resource center and the school gym. (This project will not include the Holy Family building.) The roof has more than exceeded its life expectancy and is overdue for replacement. There are numerous leaks occurring throughout the system in all sections of the school building.

Return to Pre-COVID Practices

Dear Parishioners,

As was mentioned in the “Tuesday Updates” Flocknote, we have given serious consideration to our recommendations regarding mask wearing at Mass.  As a result of the CDC recommendations that were updated on May 13th and the subsequent CDPHE Amended Public Health Order on May 14th, we are no longer designating certain Masses as masks required.  In addition, at our daily Masses, there will no longer be a designated section for those who wish to wear a mask.  Of course, we understand that some people may need to continue to wear a mask based on their personal health situation and we support your decision to do so.  The severity of the pandemic has been stressful for all and, in some cases, divisive.  We are confident that our parish family will be charitable to each other at all times.

Guidelines for Resuming Mass Obligation

After a most challenging year, we are looking forward with great anticipation to the restoration of the Sunday/Holy Day Mass obligation on Pentecost weekend, marking another step in the path toward normal parish life. In preparation for this milestone, Abp. Aquila sent a letter to the priests of the archdiocese laying out some guidelines for parishes. Here are some key excerpts from that letter:

  • “The distribution of the Precious Blood remains suspended.”
  • “Limited pre-recorded and livestream Masses may continue for the benefit of those not able to attend in person.”
  • Parishioners are reminded that “they are excused from the [Mass] obligation for serious and grave reasons, including illness.”
  • “It seems prudent for the faithful to wear face masks while entering, moving about, going forward for communion, and exiting indoor spaces.”
  • “Whether or not to be inoculated with a vaccine for COVID-19 is a personal healthcare decision… the bishops of Colorado have affirmed that receiving certain COVID-19 vaccines is morally acceptable.”
  • “No person should be required to get the vaccine, nor should inoculation be used as a requirement for participation or admittance in either public or church sponsored events.”

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the parish office at 303.798.8506.

You can read Abp. Aquila’s decree on the restoration of the Mass obligation here. Visit the Archdiocese “Reencounter the Mass” page here.

New Adoration Chapel Guidelines

Please note these two new policies, effective Monday, May 10:

  • You are permitted to lower or remove your face covering while you are seated in the chapel. Please wear it, however when you are entering or exiting or moving about.
  • Chapel capacity is increased to 12 persons at a time. The central pew or seating will remain unavailable.

Thank you for observing these guidelines.
